آية الله العظمى الامام السيد أبوالقاسم الموسوى الخوئي (قده) (1899 - 1992)

ولد السيد الخوئي في ليلة النصف من شهر رجب سنة 1317 هـ الموافق 19/11/1899 م، في مدينة خوي من إقليم أذربيجان، وقد التحق بوالده العلامة المغفور له آية الله السيد علي اكبر الموسوي الخوئي الذي كان قد هاجر قبله إلى النجف الأشرف، وحيث كانت المعاهد العلمية في النجف الأشرف هي الجامعة الدينية الكبرى التي تغذي العالم الإسلامي كله وترفده بالآلاف من رواد العلم والفضيلة على المذهب الإمامي، فقد انضم سماحته وهو ابن الثالثة عشرة إلى تلك المعاهد، وبدأ بدراسة علوم العربية والمنطق والأصول والفقه والتفسير والحديث.

مؤلفاته

لقد ألف سماحته عشرات الكتب في شتى الحقول العلمية المختلفة نذكر المطبوع منها:

1- أجود التقريرات، في أصول الفقه.

2- البيان، في علم التفسير.

3- نفحات الإعجاز، في علوم القرآن.

4- معجم رجال الحديث وتفصيل طبقات الرواة، في علم الرجال، في 24 مجلدا.

5- منهاج الصالحين، في بيان أحكام الفقه، في مجلدين وقد طبع 28 مرة.

6- مناسك الحج، في الفقه.

7- رسالة في اللباس المشكوك، في الفقه.

8- توضيح المسائل، في بيان أحكام الفقه، الرسالة العملية لمقلديه، طبع أكثر من ثلاثين مرة وبعدة لغات.

9- المسائل المنتخبة، في بيان أحكام الفقه، الرسالة العملية لمقلديه باللغة العربية، طبع أكثر من عشرين مرة.

10- تكملة منهاج الصالحين، في بيان أحكام الفقه، في القضاء والشهادات والحدود والديات والقصاص.

11- مباني تكملة المنهاج، في أسانيد الأحكام الفقهية، في القضاء والشهادات والحدود والديات والقصاص.

12- تعليقة العروة الوثقى، لبيان آرائه الفقهية على كتاب (العروة الوثقى) لفقيه الطائفة المغفور له آية الله العظمي السيد محمد كاظم اليزدي (قدس سره)، كما ولا يزال البعض الآخر من مؤلفاته مخطوطا.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abul-Qassim al Musawi al-Khoei
(November 19, 1899 – August 8, 1992)

was one of the most influential Twelver Shi'a Islamic scholars (marja), and the predecessor to Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al-Husayni Al-Sistani. He was the spiritual leader of much of the Shia world until his death in 1992. He was succeeded by Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Al-Husayni Al-Sistani, his former student, whereby many of his followers became followers of Sayyid Ali Al Sistani and foundations previously headed by Khoei were handed to Sayyid Ali Al Sistani.

Born in the Iranian city of Khoy, Azerbaijan in 1899, Khoei grew up in Iran. Around the age of 13, he moved to Iraq and took up residence in the holy city of Najaf where he began studying Shia theology with the scholars of that city. He eventually attained the rank of Ayatollah and was subsequently made a marja. Khoei would continue to live in Najaf, becoming a teacher for the remainder of his life, and overseeing the studies of scholars who would be qualified to issue fatwas based on Shia theology.

Due to his prominent position as a teacher and scholar in Najaf, he became an important leader of worldwide Shias. He was made the most prominent Grand Ayatollah in 1971 after the death of Ayatollah Sayed Muhsin al-Hakim. In this position, he became a patron of numerous institutions across the globe that sought to provide welfare, and also provided scholarships to theological students from across the Muslim world.

He is considered as the architect of a distinct school of thought in the principles of jurisprudence and Islamic law, and one of the leading exponents of 'kalam'-scholastic theology- and 'rijal'- study of the biographies of transmitters of ahadith, the prophetic traditions, 'fiqh'- jurisprudence- and 'tafseer'- exegesis of the Qur'an. His interests included astronomy, mathematics, and philosophy.

After the Persian Gulf War, Khoei was arrested by Saddam Hussein during the mass Shia uprising that followed the defeat of Iraqi forces. While under arrest, he was taken to Baghdad and forced to make public appearances with Saddam Hussein. Hussein eventually allowed Khoei to return to Najaf, but he was placed under house arrest, and died in 1992 (1413 AH).
